Moving On

Beloveds,

I found out this morning, reading a post from a colleague I trust, and I knew I could not wait. The After is moving. We are leaving Substack.

Substack has made choices, at the ownership level, that I cannot set aside. They have repeatedly declined to moderate neo-Nazi content on their platform, framing it as a free speech commitment. I do not share that framing. I believe that who we platform is who we become, and I am not willing to build this work inside a house that is willing to host that kind of harm. Not this work. Not this community.

So we are going to Ghost.

Ghost is an independent, open-source, nonprofit platform. The writing is beautiful there. The ethics are cleaner. And most importantly, it is a place I can stand behind.

Here is what this means practically: the move does not happen automatically. To keep receiving The After in your inbox, a re-subscription on the new platform is needed. I know that is an extra step, and I am asking for it anyway, because I want this list to be made up of people who choose to be here.

The new home is

theafter.ghost.io

The link to subscribe is waiting there.

Every essay, every poem, every threshold reflection will continue. The work is not changing. Only the address.

This work has always been an act of love. That part does not move.

With love,

Rev. JeKaren
